New pattern #4, Cobblestone Courtyard

Today’s new pattern is Cobblestone Courtyard.

Cobblestone Courtyard #202 Covers watermark web

It is made with exactly 1 jelly roll (40, 2-1/2″ strips) and

1/2 yard of binding fabric plus the backing & batting.

I’m always challenged to create ways to use those clever pre-cuts.

It is just so much fun!

You can of course cut your own 2-1/2″ strips,

but who doesn’t have one of those luscious jelly rolls sitting in their sewing room that was just too tempting to pass up?

The beauty of this quilt is

if you make it with that precious jelly roll, you’ll be able to display this quilt anywhere and be able to enjoy it forever!

Another fun tidbit about using a jelly roll is that most of the cutting is done for you.

You truly can make this quilt in 1 day including the hand work on the binding.

The jelly roll that I bought for this quilt is the new PB&J collection.

It’s not too bright and not too dark either.

Below is another version, with guess what fabrics???

Cobblestone Courtyard Christmas watermarkIt coordinated with my market booth.

You can purchase the pattern on my website.

I’m scheduled to teach this quilt in Denver on July 10, 2013

at the Rocky Mountain Sew Expo.

Think about those jelly rolls that you might have stacked up in your sewing room and come join the class.

My new book is next.

Until next time,

Susan

New Pattern #7 for Market

This change in the weather can’t come soon enough for me and it’s not even winter yet, although there have been a few days this past week that could have been considered winter days, yuk!!!

I will think about spring instead of winter if you please.

Let’s hear it for Flowers on the Vine,

It’s another pattern made with my popular Quilt-as-you-go lap quilt technique.  You may remember if here.  It’s made with the new Amelia fabric collection by Me & My Sister Designs for Moda, plus a yellow polka dot print that I couldn’t resist.

I used a jelly roll plus some yardage for the borders & flower applique to complete the top. It also uses some jumbo rick rack and cute little flower buttons by hillcreek designs.  I’m always on the look-out for new, fun stuff to add to my quilts.  It’s a project that I can complete in less than a day and the best part is when all of the strips are sewn onto the foundation the quilting is done, no wondering how to quilt it, yeah!  You can easily make it in a weekend and these lap quilts make great gifts.  Ask me how I know!

Until next time,

Susan

New Pattern, Mittens on the Line #182

I’m back with another new pattern that was tied with “A Pretty Package” for my best-selling pattern at market. Meet “Mittens on the Line”.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, quilters want quick & easy patterns and this is it!  It starts with a jellyroll plus a bit of yardage and it’s quilt-as-you-go.  It’s another quilt made with Sweetwater’s “Countdown to Christmas” by Moda.

What makes this speedy is that a lot of your cutting is done for you with the jellyroll. So, you make the little 9-patches and sew them into strips.  You applique the mittens, that by the way can be cut from charm squares, then you sew those strips onto your foundation.

The jumbo rickrack is adorable, and if you’re not into a lap quilt you can get the look with a cute little table runner.  What’s not to like?

Look for my new patterns at your local quilt shop or buy them here.

More tomorrow!

Until next time,

Susan
