A Merry Christmas To You Quilt-Along

A Merry Christmas To You, Quilt-Along Week #4

Week # 4

I’m glad you’re sewing my

“A Merry Christmas To You” quilt with us.

Thanks if you’ve joined “Sewing With Susan” Facebook group

so you can see what others are doing

& to also show your work of this project.

I enjoy seeing your stitched progress!

This week will be the final week for stitching the verses.

So once again grab your verse background fabric &

0.5 Micron pen with color matching the 12 wt. cotton thread (or perle cotton thread).

Trace “Hung with Care” found on the template sheet,

onto the fabric as shown in the diagram on page 1 of pattern.

Using the cotton thread,

stitch the verse with the same stitch that was used the previous 3 weeks.

It’s another short verse to stitch so if you’re a bit behind,

this is your chance to get caught up!

Please post your progress on my Sewing With Susan

FB group page for us all to see and be inspired.

Spoiler alert: next week will be the start of the fun stuff;

Tiny Dresden plates, yay!!!

A Merry Christmas To You, Quilt-Along Week #3

Week # 3

Are you sewing my

“A Merry Christmas To You” quilt with us?

Have you joined “Sewing With Susan” Facebook group

so you can see what others are doing

& to also show your progress of this project?

This week we’ll again use the verse background fabric &

.05 Micron pen with color matching the 12 wt. cotton thread (or perle cotton thread).

This week trace “Joy to the World” found on the template sheet,

onto the fabric as shown in the diagram on page 1 of pattern.

Using the cotton thread,

stitch the verse with the same stitch that was used the previous 2 weeks.

It’s a great time of year to have hand work to do isn’t it?

No worries that you should be weeding the garden or

you’d rather by enjoying your deck!

A great evening project to do while watching TV

since around here it’s too cold to do anything else.

Quilt Show, Quilt Show Vendor

2019 Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival

Trying to think warm thoughts today…

I will once again have a booth here in June:

It’s going to be an even larger show this year!

Among other new things, Ricky Tims will have 2 concerts

& I’ll be teaching my Dresden Love quilt.

This class is scheduled for Thursday, June 13 3:00-6:00.

I’ll also have a demo on Friday June 14 at 3:00.

I will be there all weekend to demo & sign books in my booth

so I hope you put it on your calendar!

It’s sure to be warmer by then, Lol.

You can see all of the happenings for the weekend,

sign up for classes &

see host hotels, etc. here on their site.

I love that the hotels are either just next door

or around the corner and parking is free!

It’s convenient to get to;

just off the interstate in KC.

Hope to see you there!

A Merry Christmas To You, Quilt-Along Week #2

Week # 2

Thank you for sewing my

“A Merry Christmas To You” quilt with us.

If you haven’t already,

please join my new “Sewing With Susan” Facebook group

so you can see what others are doing

& to also show your progress of this project.

This week we’ll again use the verse background fabric &

.05 Micron pen with color matching the 12 wt. cotton thread (or perle cotton thread).

Trace “Warm Wishes” found on the template sheet,

onto the fabric as shown in the diagram on page 1 of pattern.

Using the cotton thread,

stitch the verse with the same stitch that was used

to stitch “A Merry Christmas to you” last week.

As I mentioned last week I used a stem stitch.

Maggie mentioned in our Sewing With Susan FB group

that Mary Corbet has an excellent YouTube video on that stitch here.

Less work this week

so if you’re a bit behind from last week hopefully this will help you get caught up!

A Merry Christmas To You Quilt-Along

A Merry Christmas To You, Quilt-Along Week #1

Week # 1

I’m so glad that you’ve decided to sew my

“A Merry Christmas To You” quilt.

Whether you’re making the large quilt shown here in the beautiful Quiltmania setting,

or the 4 smaller quilts shown below from the back cover,

the instructions are the same.

The only difference will be after you have the 4 small quilt tops made.

You will either sew them into 1 quilt and add the borders or

stop & quilt them as 4 individual quilts.

Pretty clever, I know Lol!

Either way, you’ll want to join my new “Sewing With Susan” Facebook group where you can see

& show your progress of this project with other quilters.

So, get the verse background fabric &

.05 Micron pen with color matching the 12 wt. cotton thread (or perle cotton thread).

Trace “A Merry Christmas To You” from the template page

onto the fabric as shown in the diagram on page 1 of pattern.

Using the cotton thread, stitch the verse with the stitch of your choice.

I chose to use a stem stitch.

It’s a bit “beefier” than a back stitch & I like that!

You have all week to get this finished.

I find it to be a good task to do while watching TV.

It makes the time go by quickly.

Do you find this to be true?

I can’t believe that after writing this post I found this pic of me stitching in front of the TV!

I know that’s where I am because I see a bit of our living room carpet, Lol.

I use a small spring tension hoop.

I like how easy it is to move around on my piece as I stitch.

See you back here next Wednesday!

A Quilt Along

2 Days Til A Merry Christmas To You Quilt-Along

A Merry Christmas To You!

We’ll be starting This Wednesday

and it will last for 22 weeks,

finishing up with the last step posted on July 3rd.

This will give you plenty of time each week to complete the step laid out for you

& also give you plenty of time to get it quilted to hang for Christmas 2019!

Won’t that be nice to have this hanging in time for Christmas?

If you still need the pattern or template,

& your local shop doesn’t have them,

you can find them here on my website.

I’ve also created a Facebook group to help us all stay connected

with the sewing & sharing process.

“Sewing With Susan” can be found here.

You have two options with this pattern.

You can either make the one large quilt like is shown on the front cover,

or you can make 4 small quilts instead.

Either way, you’ll make the 4 small quilts,

then the last steps are to sew the 4 small quilts together & add 2 borders.

Included in this project is some hand embroidery with perle cotton thread.

You’ll be making Tiny Dresden plates, yay!

There are spool blocks.

There’s a little bit of freezer paper applique (or other technique of your choice).

Lastly, there are a few small filler pieced blocks.

I hope you’ll join in the fun.
