New Patterns Now Available!

I have 6 new patterns for you!

3 of my new patterns are table runner/placemat patterns.

They’re quick & easy because they use my unique

Quilt-as-you-sew technique.

In case you’ve not tried one of my popular quilt-as-you-sew (go) patterns,

you should know…

  1. You cut your backing & batting to the finished size of the quilt.
  2. You baste the two together. I prefer basting spray, but pins will work too.
  3. Following my instructions, you use this as a “foundation” to sew all of the strips onto.
  4. Once all of the strips are sewn onto the foundation you might have a bit of fusible applique to add (depending on which pattern you choose).
  5. Bind the quilt & it’s finished!

2 Hearts As One

is just in time for Valentine’s Day sewing

or perhaps a wedding or anniversary gift.

Stars & Stripes Forever

will look great on your

or your friend’s table for all of the patriotic holidays.

Star Spangled Dresdens

is not only Quilt-as-you-sew,

but it also incorporates my Tiny Dresden plates!

You’ll make the Tiny Dresden plates,

applique them onto a strip then add the strip to the foundation.

It will also look great on your table for our patriotic holidays.

Next, because I love Jelly Rolls of 2 1/2″ strips & I like quick & easy quilts,

I designed

Jellyroll Joyride

just for me, but I hope you enjoy it too.

Use an ENTIRE jelly roll to quickly make this lap quilt.

Reserving 6 strips for the binding and sewing the rest of them onto

the foundation you can make this entire quilt in just a day!

You’re going to want to make lots of these for gifts.

They’re the perfect size for kids to cuddle up in while watching TV or lap quilts for friends.

Lollipop Tree

is a cutie that uses my Tiny Dresden plates.

This quilt will look cute in non-Christmas colors too.

And last, but not least,

God’s Peace

is a sweet quilt that speaks to my heart,

with a bible verse reminding me not to be so stressed out!

Just 1 Tiny Dresden plate,

a bit of fusible web applique

& a bit of perle cotton embroidery make this cutie.

I’m putting them on my website today.

Snow is on its way here.

I plan to get some sewing time in.

How about you?

Just Keep Sewing…

Dresden Plate Quilt, New Christmas Quilt Patterns, Suzn Quilts Patterns

New Tiny & Mini Dresden Plate Patterns now available

They’re back from the printer & ready to ship!

New patterns that use my new Tiny Dresden template.

Suzn+Quilts+Tiny+Bits+of+Dresden+Stocking#231+RGB

A 10″ stocking, that’s a cute as can be (if I must say so myself!)

These are quick & easy.

Completely by machine except for the hand work to stitch the binding.

Also using Tiny Dresden plates,

A+Joyful+Christmas+#229+Cover+w+bleed+11-16-14+RGB

make either the runner or wall quilt with adorable little angels.

“A Joyful Christmas” was stitched by hand with perle cotton,

the rest was all done by machine.

I even sew my buttons on by machine.

I can’t wait to see what other color combinations these are made into.

Lastly, incorporating both my tiny & mini Dresden plates,

Suzn+Quilts+Dresden+Heaven#230+RGB

Dresden Heaven.

I absolutely love this quilt!

I used fat quarters, but you can use charm squares & layer cakes along with yardage.

A shop ordered these yesterday and she’s going to use the new Downton Abbey collection.

I can’t wait to see it!

Check your local quilt shop or my website to get yours today.

Sew them for Christmas, or put them on your Christmas list!

Until next time,

Susan

New Tiny Dresden Plate Patterns

Suzn+Quilts+Patterns+Tiny+Dresden+ImagesNew Tiny Dresden Plate patterns are now at the printer

and they’re available for pre-order on my website.

If you look back at our booth photos from market,

you can see these quilts.

We took pre-orders

for these at Houston market last month,

and I’ve finally finished

-photography

-instruction writing &

-cover designs.

It’s a lot of work getting designs into pattern form.

I’m fortunate though that I can work around my family life.

I wear so many hats!

(Figuratively, not literally because hats & curls don’t mix!)

I’m really excited about the angel I designed for “A Joyful Christmas.”

A+Joyful+Christmas+#229+Cover+w+bleed+11-16-14+RGBThe pattern includes designs for

a 16-1/2″ x 48″ table runner

& a 29″ x 36″ wall quilt.

Both have 4″ Tiny Dresden Plates stacked to form a Christmas tree,

perle cotton embroidery &

an angel or two, who’s wings are also Dresden petals!

How can you resist?

I know, I’m so clever… just a piddler really.

Give me some fabric & my brain starts dreaming.

As I was drafting the illustrations for these patterns,

my brain was getting even more ideas for quilts.

I can’t help it!

Next is “Tiny Bits of Dresden Christmas Stocking”

 Suzn+Quilts+Tiny+Bits+of+Dresden+Stocking#231+RGB

These also use my 4″ Tiny Dresden Plates,

but you don’t sew a whole plate.

Rather, you make the petals then assemble partial plates

& put them in various places on a smallish 10″ Christmas stocking.

If it looks a bit familiar,

 Suzn+Quilts+Bits+of+Dresden+Christmas+Stocking#185+RGB

you might be remembering it’s bigger version,

“Bits of Dresden Christmas Stocking”

that uses my Mini Dresden Plate Template.

This stocking is a generous 21″ tall.

And finally…

“Dresden Heaven”

 Suzn+Quilts+Dresden+Heaven#230+RGBI’m not sure I’ve liked a quilt more…

but I have a habit of my favorite quilt being the one I just completed.

I showed you the progression of these Dresden plates here

with the help of my new sewing mate.

I dreamed up the design last summer while working on my

Tiny Dresden Series.

I wanted a quilt that showcased both my

new Tiny Dresden Plate Template &

my Mini Dresden Plate Template.

I ordered the lovely

“Heart’s Content” collection by Laundry Basket Quilts from Moda,

then I started sewing…

Tamara Struckoff did a wonderful job of machine quilting it full of feathers

& my photographer did a great job of capturing its good side.

 What can I say?

I absolutely love it and given another fabulous fabric collection,

I could see myself making another one of these!

Don’t dare count those TD’s.

Just buy the pattern & templates (if you don’t already own them)

& just start sewing!

I hope you’re in love too.

These & all of my patterns are on my website

if you can’t find them at your local quilt shop.

Until next time,

Susan

Houston Fall Quilt Market 2014 recap

Susan+Chloe+booth+Houston2014-watermark

I’m so thankful that even though Chloe has graduated & has a big girl (non-quilt related) job that she still wants to take time off & help me at market.

Her help is fantastic!

I say help, but once I explain my new designs she can sell Suzn Quilts as well as I can.

It’s back-breaking work from the minute we leave home

and besides all the fun quilters we meet each day,

her only real reward is a good dinner at the end of each day…

We had lots of interest in my new Tiny Dresden Series.

Suzn+Quilts+Tiny+Dresden+retail+brochure

Along with the Tiny Dresden Template

SuznQuilts+Tiny+Dresden+Plate+Template+insert+Front+10-5-14

That makes these 4″ cuties…

Suzn+Quilts+Tiny+Dresden+plate

I LOVE to make these Tiny Dresden Plates!

They’re a bit addictive, so beware!!!

No hand work unless you want to make them by hand.

My quilt-as-you-go patterns sold very well also.

Suzn+Quilts+A+Pretty+Table+#214+Cover

My new table runner & place mats make great holiday gifts & decor,

but many quilters are making them in batiks & other non-Christmas colors.

Think outside the bun…

Suzn+Quilts+A+Merry+Christmas+to+you+frontcover+web

Since my new “A Merry Christmas to you” can be a Block-of-the-Month,

mystery or stand alone pattern, it sold well too.

Notice those cute tiny Dresden Plates in that pattern too?

Yep, they’re catching on!

Catch some for yourself at your local quilt shop or

at SuznQuilts.com.

I have a few new designs that we took pre-orders on,

but I still need to get the photography done on them.

You can see them in the above booth photo by “Frosty” if you look closely.

I’ll show you them as soon as they’re ready.

I hope you’re getting some quilting time in too.

Until next time,

A Pretty Table, Suzn Quilts New Patterns Continued

I’m excited to next show you a new addition to my Quilt-as-you-go patterns.

You probably remember my best-selling pattern,

A Pretty Package?

Suzn+Quilts+A+Pretty+Pkg+Winterlude+complete

Well, when taking it to market & other venues the last couple of years,

I’ve had many inquiries asking to have a table runner adaptation.

Suzn+Quilts+A+Pretty+Table+#214+Cover

Not only did I do this, but I also designed place mats to coordinate.

Meet A Pretty Table!

What do you think?

I’ve made the lap quilt in non-Christmas colors for birthdays,

and I’ve also received lots of emails from quilters that made it for other occasions too.

Mother’s Day, retirement, etc.

It’s now available on my website.

Think outside the box!

Until next time,

Remember, I’ve been giving you little snippets of them here & there?

It’s also possible to make the same components & instead have one or four individual quilts:

Suzn+Quilts+A+Merry+Christmas+to+you+backcover+web

The pattern is available for $28.00 & includes the Plexiglas template!

Frosty, Suzn Quilts New Patterns Continued…

Suzn+Quilts+Frosty+#215+Cover+web

Meet Frosty!

It’s another of my Quilt-as-you-go lap quilts.

What a fun way to wrap you or a loved in on a snowy winter day!

My quilt-as-you-go lap quilts are very popular.

You can view a tutorial here.

If you’ve not made one yet, this is why you should:

They’re quick,

they’re easy,

 & they’re fun.

Once you make one, you’ll want to make more!

Frosty starts with cutting some strips.

Some of the strips have corner cut-off sewing.

Then, after you sew the strips to the foundation,

there is a bit of fusible web applique.

Sew on the binding and your lap quilt is complete!

It’s a great quilt for a grand child to cuddle under,

but it will also look good hanging on your wall all winter long.

It’s now available on my website.

Stay tuned for more!

Until next time,

Susan

How Does My Garden Grow?

With Winterlude by 3 Sisters for Moda of course!

More & more flowers…

Suzn+Quilts+Dresden+mini+flowers

These have become addicting!

Each one is cuter than the last.

Suzn+Quilts+Dresden+mini+temp

With my new template being just 2″, one might think tedious,

but I’m loving this!

So precise!!!

Suzn+Quilts+Dresden++mini+flower

The complete little plate is just about 4″.

Suzn+Quilts+glue+Dresden+mini+flowers

Now, I’m on to the next step,

gluing the plates to their background squares.

Then it will be back to stitching…

Can’t wait to show you the finished quilts!

Knee deep in petals

Suzn+Quilts+knee+deep+in+Dresden+petals

These petals can grow & multiply even in frigid temperatures!

The weather is still crazy cold here.

It was just 12 degrees here this morning,

but it’s warm in my sewing room!

I’m sewing up my new Christmas designs for spring market using the new “Winterlude” by 3 Sisters for Moda that I showed you a while back.

So far today I’ve made these blue plates.

Suzn+Quilts+mini+Dresden+plates

They’re actually mini Dresden plates.

They will make a 4-1/2″ finished block.

I told you they were MINI!!!

Now I’m working on green plates.

Suzn+Quilts+mini+Dresden+plates+plus+bowl

I like to make these in assembly line fashion.

Cut a million petals…

Stitch a million petals…

Trim a million petals…

I found a way to use my new bowl that was a Christmas gift from my friend, Kathy.

She sells the hand made pottery in her new studio.

Suzn+Quilts+Bowl+of+Dresden+petals+close-up

It’s best to keep the different fabrics segregated since they’re so close in color & design.

That’s what I like about this collection.

There aren’t a lot of different colors, just a few used over and over with different patterns.

This quilt will have an organized scrappy feel to it with a feel of antiquity.

I love this collection!!!

Suzn+Quilts+Bowl+of+Dresden+petals

I think I’ll move this to the living room tonight.

I can turn a million…

Press a millions..

all while watching my favorite shows!

Perhaps I’ll move my featherweight in there too.

This is a fun little project for that machine.

The days are getting longer.

Think spring!!!

Until next time,

Susan
