My Day For #SewPINK 2022

I hope you’ve been enjoying the fun things other quilters have been posting to help encourage everyone to get their annual Mammogram.

There are lots of creative minds out there & we all hope that getting that pesky mammogram will help catch possible breast cancer early, because it’s typically very treatable if it’s caught early.

NO EXCUSES! JUST DO IT!

I have a “love-ly” little quilt, Alpine Love, that I designed & am sharing with you here for free.

I hope you’ll like it & offer a donation to

Think of it as a little incentive to get your mammogram done &

maybe make one for a friend that needs that encouragement.

We all know someone that could use some extra love!

The #SewPink Initiative was created by ByAnnie.com LLC to raise awareness for breast cancer throughout the year. Our efforts culminate in an annual blog hop during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month to promote self-care, awareness, early detection, and support for those affected by breast cancer.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women, and unfortunately, many of us know someone or have ourselves been affected by this disease. The good news is we can do something about it because breast cancer is detectable with monthly breast self-exams and mammograms.

In addition to participating in #SewPINK, Fat Quarter Shop invites you to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation with the goal of raising $20,000. To find the Fat Quarter Shop fundraiser, visit: https://fundraise.nbcf.org/team/fqs

ByAnnie.com will match every dollar raised on the #SewPINK fundraising page.

#SewPINK Blog Hop 2021

It’s my day to once again help spread awareness for breast cancer screening.

I hope every woman is aware of how important monthly self exams and especially annual mammograms are each year once you reach 40, or before if like me, you have a family history of breast cancer.

I can attest that mammograms are no fun!

I’ve been getting them regularly for nearly half my life.

Diagnostic MRIs & ultrasounds that some years for me are every 6 months instead of 12, aren’t fun either, but it beats the alternative. I also know that if they find something in their testing they’re probably catching it early & it will hopefully be easily treatable.

Early detection is so important.

There are so many reasons to try to stay healthy &

our precious new grand baby, Emma, is a good reason for me!

I’d like to offer this new little quilt pattern to make for yourself or a friend.

It measures approx. 6″ x 6″ & fits nicely on the 6 x 6 Scroll Stand by Ackfeld.

Use it as a reminder to get your annual screening.

Download the pattern for free by clicking the download button below & if you feel it in your heart to donate, see the details below.

New patterns with Vintage Play

I’ve been really busy these past months using my new fabric line,

Vintage Play by Red Rooster.

Panel+24303_mul1

This is the panel with 12 blocks that can be trimmed to 6-1/2″.

cream+border+24304_mul1

This is the border print that is available in 2 colorways.

Green+Border+24304_gre1

The tossed cars are available in 3 colorways.

Cream+Cars+24305_cre1

Black+Cars+24305_bla1

gray+Cars+24305_gry1

The tossed butterflies were one of the last prints, but has become my favorite background print.

Butterflies+24306_mul1

The puppies are available in 2 colorways.

Blue dogs+24310_blu1

Red+dogs+24310_red1

The check print makes a great border!

Checks+24309_mul1

These tossed flowers are available in 2 colorways too.

Cream+Flowers+24311_cre1

The green tossed flowers are good for a background as well.

Green+Flowers+24311_gre1

The tossed numbers read as solids.

They make great applique in 5 colors!

Red+numbers+24307_red1

Yellow+Numbers24307_yel1

The road dashes are also in 2 colorways.

Funny thing is, quilters thought they were stitches!

This gives me more ideas…

Black+Road+24308_bla1

In yellow I thought this print would make a great legal pad effect.

Yellow+Road+24308_yel1

You might think it would be hard deciding where to start, but before I even had the fabrics, I designed a free pattern for Red Rooster. After that, the rest just kept coming…

FreePattern+vintageplay313

There is also a bonus quilt pattern included in the book “Tiny Play”

Mini VP quiltI made this quilt from scraps of “Vintage Play” & “Toy Cars” quilts.

I also have 6 new patterns with Vintage Play.

Add-A-Candle+birthday+counter#207+cover+WEBAdd-a-Candle birthday counter.

This is a birthday counter that you add a candle to each year to celebrate a child’s age. I suggest making as many candles as you intend to add to this quilt when you make the quilt so you don’t have to go back each year & make another candle. This is also a good idea to give to mom’s that don’t sew. Just fusing the candles each year will be OK, because you won’t need to wash the quilt.

Measuring+Up+Cover+WEB

Measuring Up!

I designed this to measure children’s height, but at market & festival I think more quilters were interested in buying the pattern so they could hang the quilt in their sewing room!  I didn’t even think of that! Guess where this is going later…

Crooked 9-Patch #122 Cover+web

Crooked 9-Patch is a stack, cut & swap quilt.

It’s actually a revised older pattern of mine that I’ve taught to children at summer camps. It’s quick, easy and as long as you sew a straight seam, the quilt will lay flat!

My+Pencil+Box+WEBMy Pencil Box

is another of my Quilt-as-you-go lap quilt patterns.

In case you’ve not seen my tutorial on this you can see it here.

Quick & easy lap quilts…  my thing!

These next two quilts are traditionally pieced, then handed of to my awesome quilter, Tamara.

Oh+Happy+Daisy#211coverWEBOh Happy Daisy,

also a lap quilt, but with great-big applique!

Out+to+Play#212coverWEB

Out to Play.

This is also a lap quilt with great, big applique.
