I’ll be vending at the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show in Madison Wisconsin September 7-9!
Come out to see the beautiful quilts & to shop!!!
This is a new show for me.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about it for years so I’m really excited to be a vendor.
Come say “hi” & see my quilts up close!
Come on out & see us!

It’s that time of year for us.

The days are short & the nights are very long! Most of these days are gloomy, like today… Fortunately for another week we’re so busy with all the Christmas hustle & bustle that we hardly notice, but after Christmas it really kicks in; the winter blues.
So what are we to do?
Redfin has put together a list of mood-boosting activities to do at home and how to begin incorporating them into your routine, one which of course is quilting!
I can think of no better way to spend a cold, dreary day than inside where it’s warm & cozy *with lots of lights on* planning & sewing a quilt!
It’s a great time to start your Valentine or spring quilt.

If you’re reading my blog you probably already quilt,
but don’t miss the recent Redfin article we were featured in: “Mood-Boosting Activities at Home to Fend Off Winter Blues: Indoor Hobbies and Practices.”
Head over to their site & check out their other great suggestions of mood-boosting activities to do at home and how to begin incorporating them into your routine.
pilates – reading – yoga – preparing delicious meals – quilting – create handmade holiday decor
There you’ll find they’ve included my quick tip,
“There’s no better way to make your home truly yours than by making custom quilts in your own style. Colors, sizes, and designs can be customized for everyone in your home, by everyone in your home. Young children up to adults can join in the creative process and make quilts for beds, walls, and tabletops. – Suzn Quilts“
Your days will begin to look brighter even before the first signs of spring.

It’s the perfect fall day here today,
sunny with a high of 84!
Great weather for a give-away.
(What’s not great is WordPress not publishing my posts the way I’ve set them up… things not centered & other things not on their own lines!)
I’m afraid it’s just going to make it all that much easier
to forget the blog & just post to FB & IG!

Thanks for your comments!

Since I posted this give-away on multiple platforms
I decided I needed to go old school with the drawing.
Names in a bowl, lol!
I couldn’t draw just 1!
Rhonda Colton & Cynthia Holman,
please email me (SuznQuilts@aol.com)
with your preference of either
Dresden Pumpkins or
Tiny Witch Hats
& I also need your mailing address.
If you didn’t win & want to sew these cute little quilts
you can find them along with the templates on my website here.

Get ready for Halloween with this fun little quilt that not only uses
my Mini Dresden Plate Template,
but also my Tiny Tree Template Set!

Do you see how the hats are my tiny trees,
but instead of a tree trunk I added a brim?
I know, pretty clever…
I used a Halloween charm pack,
but you can use your favorite Halloween fabrics.
There are paper templates in the pattern,
& if you already have the templates you’re set,
but if not they’re available on my website here.
The pattern is available here on my website in both paper & PDF versions.

This morning there was frost on the pumpkins, literally!
Fall is definitely here & although I detest fall coming
because I know a cold, dreary winter will follow,
because it always does…
I LOVE my new Dresden Pumpkins runner!
I will now have something special to look forward to
each year as I bring this runner out of the holiday room.

Make just 3 Tiny Dresden plates
& you too will have this adorable
pumpkin runner to grace your home for fall.
They’re available now on my website in both PDF & paper form.
&
I think we need to celebrate this milestone with a give-away!
Leave me a comment telling me your favorite season
for a chance to win either
this new Dresden Pumpkins pattern
or
my new Tiny Witch Hats pattern.
Winner to decide.
Drawing will take place Wednesday.
Happy fall!

I’ve been having lots of fun playing with tiny heart blocks.
By tiny, I mean like 1″ tiny hearts!

Trust me when I say,
Mary Ellen’s Best Press is one of my best friends!
It doesn’t make the fabric stiff, it just gives it more body.
I just spray & press each fabric with Best Press before cutting
& I have no issues working with the tiny pieces.
I had so much fun that I didn’t stop with one…

Both quilts fit onto the Ackfeld 12″ stand.
Eventually I’ll make sleeves,
but I couldn’t resist using some cool (new to me)
vintage clips to hang them instead of a sleeve.
Please forgive me.
If you’d like to make them for yourself or a friend,
I put them on my website today.
Just 1 Tiny Dresden plate
(so easy!!!)
& just $10 + shipping.
You can also find the 12″ stands on my “Notions” page.
Happy early Valentine’s Day!

Hi Quilting friends,
The lucky winner of the Jen Kingwell fat 1/8th bundle of Looking Forward
is #2.
You use the single finger pump bottle because it allows a very fine spray that will evenly coat but no saturate small fabric pieces.
This is correct!
Mary Ellen’s Best Press is the best for my little Dresden plates and all of my quilting cottons.

Now Loraine will have to decide what to do with the lovely fat 1/8th bundle
because she already bought a kit from me to make Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler with.
What a tragedy!

Maybe she’ll make 2 versions?
If you know Loraine, she’ll have it made into something in no time at all
& have her own wheelbarrow full of scraps.

If you still need a kit for the Quilt-Along I have them available on my website.

Thanks Moda for the lovely fabrics for the give-away!
Lissa Alexander actually gave me 2 bundles, so watch for another give-away.
I’ll be bringing you more Dresden Quilt Workshop Quilt-Along prepping ideas soon.
