A Giveaway!, A Quilt Along

12 Days of Christmas 2023; Day 1

I hope your Christmas was beautiful.

We had a very nice day with lots of cheer!

David gifted me this beautiful, somewhat rare Tan Featherweight Sewing Machine!

I’m so excited to plug it in & sew, but I have lots to do before I can do that!

If you’re like me, you’re exhausted & need a nap,

& maybe not ready for a new start, but…

As the 3 Wise Men begin their journey, these 12 Days of Christmas,

I hope that you will join me (& Emma) in making my latest little quilt,

Dresden Home.

It’s the perfect post-Christmas project with just a tiny bit of sewing each day.

Day 1 you’ll just need to make 1 Tiny Tree!

So, pull out your Tiny Tree Template Set,

or use the template provided with the instructions in the PDF below.

Notice the background fabric in this tree block is the HOUSE fabric. This tree will sit to the right or left of the door not as part of the “2024” block.

Show your us your finished blocks on my Sewing With Susan FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SewingWithSusan

The first to post their 2023 Day 1, Tiny Tree block there will win a Suzn Quilts/Sewing With Susan pattern of their choice for free, either printed or PDF!

Just keep sewing,

Susan

More New Patterns, Christmas!

Christmas is my very favorite season to sew for.

The beautiful reds & greens of the season are my go-to colors year round so it makes perfect sense that I could sew for Christmas year-round too!

When I saw Renee Nanneman’s Retro Ho Ho collection I knew instantly that it was “me!”

I already had a sampler quilt designed that fit this collection perfectly!

Once I had images of the whole collection more ideas kept coming to mind… I could hardly stop sewing to get my quilts into pattern form for you!

Santa’s Tree Lot is the first quilt.

It uses my new favorite templates… TREES, of many sizes!

But tree templates, as you know, aren’t just for trees & here’s another really fun example of what else you can make with my tree templates!

The Santa hats in two sizes are made with my Mini & Tiny Tree Template Sets, but that’s not all… Their beards are made with my Mini & Tiny Dresden plate templates! This makes your cutting so fast & accurate.

It’s a really quick 57.5 in. x 66.5 in. lap or wall size quilt.

You can find the patterns & templates here on my website

& fabric kits can also be found on Renee’s Need’l Love website by clicking here.

How fun will Christmas photos & decorating be with this cute quilt for many Christmases to come?

Next up is Candy Cane Forest.

It’s another fast-to-cut & fast-to-sew quilt with my tree templates.

It uses my Mini & Tiny Tree Template Sets.

Another fun fact is that it’s fat quarter friendly.

At 69.5 in. x 72.5 in. it’s also a nice lap or wall quilt.

You can find fabric kits on Renee’s Need’l Love website by clicking here.

I think you can see why I was so taken with Retro Ho Ho… I’ll be back with my Retro Ho Ho quilts soon!

New Patterns Have Arrived!

Lots of new patterns are now on my website here & are ready for purchase & my VERY busy month & a half of travel are now complete so I can catch my breath here for a bit!

It’s been fun designing with Renee Nanneman’s newest lines of fabric.

Her new Gingerlily is a beautiful spring garden of prints. I couldn’t resist making a couple of quilts with the line.

Cutting is made so quick, easy & accurate with my templates. It has become my favorite part of the quilting process these days I think! Try out my templates & you’ll see what I mean! You can see them all by clicking here.

Twinkling Dresdens is my first design.

The blocks are made with my Tiny & Mini Dresden petals with sashing between the quarter plate blocks.

No center circle appliqué (darn it! No Apliquick Bar use this time…) but it does make the blocks so quick to make.

Twinkling Dresdens is a generous lap (or play according to Emma) size quilt but you could adapt it to a bed size quilt easily enough.

I think Emma was saying, “gma, let’s read already!”

My next quilt with Gingerlily is Dazzling Diamonds.

Do you see trees???

I used my Tiny & Mini Tree Template Sets to make the diamonds.

It’s another quickly cut quilt because of my templates. It also sews together quickly.

Both Twinkling Dresdens & Dazzling Diamonds can be found my website by clicking here.

If you’d like to order a fabric kit, Renee has them on her Need’l Love website here.

I’ll be back with more new patterns soon!

Until then,

Bunny In The Carrots for Spring

Spring is finally here (or at least that’s what the calendar says) so how about a little spring quilt to make this weekend to celebrate?

Do you see my Tiny Tree template set in the carrots?

I told you I’d be making lots of patterns for you to use my 3 sizes of tree template sets!

This quilt at just 11 1/2″ square is super quick to make.

You’ll want to make another for a friend.

I used wool for the bunny, but I’m seeing cute floral prints & multi-colors for more fun bunnies in the future.

You can find this little cutie on my website now.

Just click here.

Happy Spring!

Trees, Trees & More Trees!

I have 2 new patterns & 2 new sizes of tree template sets!

You’re going to love them.

The cutting is so quick & accurate with my brand new templates

& they’re super quick to sew too!

Woodland Forest is a generous lap quilt that finishes 56 1/2″ x 74 1/2″.

Woodland Runner is a nice size table runner or door or wall quilt that finishes 14″ x 54 1/2″.

My new Mini Tree Template Set makes the largest, 6″ x 9″ finished blocks.

How cute are these Mini Trees made with Renee Nanneman of Need’l Love’s fabrics?

And my Little Tree Template Set makes the middle size trees which finish at 4 1/2″ x 6″.

They are the perfect size to play nicely with my Tiny Dresden Plates!

The Little Tree Quilt is made with more of Renee’s fabrics.

And you’re already familiar with my popular Tiny Tree Template Set, the smallest trees, which finish at 3″ x 4 1/2″.

All of these can now be found on my website by clicking here.

Woodland Forest will make a great Christmas pic backdrop!

Emma & I had some fun before dropping it off at my quilter, Tamara’s shop.

This was Emma’s very first trip to a quilt shop!

She enjoyed herself immensely!

She had to check out everything!

Then we had more fun after we picked it up!

The extra wide red binding really sets off the trees.

Instructions for the extra wide binding are included in this pattern.

You have plenty of time to sew these up to enjoy for this Christmas & for many Christmases to come!

Check them out on my website by clicking here.

A Quilt Along

Yet Another, 12 Days of Christmas Mystery Quilt-Along, Day 4

Welcome to Day 4!

Thanks to all of you who are sewing along with us,

especially those of you who are sharing your block pics with us!

I love seeing the blocks in your fabrics & also the spins you put on them.

Today we will make this cute but simple flower block.

I prefer to use a bias tape maker any time I’m making stems on a quilt.

For this block I recommend the Clover 3/8″ Fusible Bias Tape Maker.

Note: The stem fabric doesn’t need to be cut on the bias for this block.

If you have a similar but different size bias tape maker it may work. You can also fuse a piece of fabric if you’re not comfortable using a bias tape maker.

Remember, this should be fun!

Click the download button below for the PDF instructions for the Flower Block.

I used my 1″ & 2″ circle paper cutters to cut the freezer paper templates for the flower.

Well, in all honestly, I just pulled them from my cute antique tins already cut.

It’s no coincidence that the flower uses these 2 sizes of circles. I’m basically lazy!!!

When you get your blocks made please share them with us on my Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SewingWithSusan

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Day 5 block.

Mystery Quilt-Along

Yet Another, 12 Days of Christmas Mystery Quilt-Along, Day 1

Welcome to Day 1!

Are you ready to sew your way to the Epiphany with me?

The first block we’re going to make is one of my Tiny Trees.

tinytreewredstar-3

You can easily sew this in an hour or less.

You’ll need 4 fabrics for the tree.

I’m going old time Christmas scrappy.

Watermarked Photo

If you already own my Tiny Tree Template Set #286

just use the instructions on the template sheet.

If you’d like to purchase the template set

you can find them on my website by clicking here.

The block should measure 3 1/2″ x 5″.

For the star you’ll need to download the PDF at the bottom of this post.

Be sure to appliqué the star at least 1/4″ below the top of the block to be sure it doesn’t get sewn into the seam allowance.

Click the link at the bottom of this post to bring up the PDF.

Be sure the 1″ square prints out exactly 1″ for the templates to be the proper size.

I hope you enjoy making the tiny tree as much as I did!

When you get your tiny tree made please share them with us on my Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SewingWithSusan

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Day 2 block.

Let me know if you have any questions.
