I’m honored to be part of the second volume of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks.
While vending at Minnesota’s International Quilt Market in May, I was asked to submit a block to be considered for this issue. What an honor to be selected along with 99 other talented quilt designers.
My block, #140 “No Ordinary Flake” is featured on page 41.
I used civil war fabrics that I collected while in Minnesota for spring quilt market. And by “collected” I mean Celine, Robin & I had to visit at least four different quilt shops in the Minneapolis area so I had fabric for this block submittal. What a girl has to go through! Here’s a setting option for a 54″ square quilt.
This would make a nice sized wall or baby quilt. I like the secondary pattern made by the four patch background squares.
To make this quilt, first make 16 blocks, instructions from magazine, then add:
Now for the really exciting part, if you leave a comment (Back at the top by the date) on my blog between now and Wednesday night you will be entered to win a free copy of this issue! I will draw a lucky winner Thursday morning. Be sure and leave an email address so I can contact the winner. Also visit Quiltmaker.com because they are giving away lots of other prizes, including the original signed blocks from this issue, and some of my “Best Friends” books to name only a few.
Good Luck & Have Fun!
Until next time,
Susan

I really like this block and the secondary design that it creates!
I really thought this block was a daisy, and was pleasantly surprised to see it was a snowflake. Right away my mind flipped to a hot pink and turqoise backgound, with white flowers on top. I have teenage daughters, which is probably why my mind is flipping to those colours. But a good block is one that is versatile, and yours is. Congratulations.
Love Susan’s new little quilts and her block.
So exiting to see all these blocks, would love to win a copy!!!!
Very lovely block…
Nice block and I love the colors that you used!

Awesome design! I am so looking forward to this magazine.
Susan I just made your block from 100 blocks vol. 2 and will be posting it tomorrow along with another block. I made a challenge to make all 100 blocks in a year. I have a few bloggers joining me too. I think we must be some crazy quilters to do this, but this week we are up to blocks 17 and 18.
Anyway(you know quilters can get off topic LOL), I just wanted to say I love your block and had so much fun making it. Also, congratulations on being included in the magazine; I didn’t get a chance to visit all the blogs during the tour.
I experimented with viewing your blog in my blackberry and the page layout doesnt seem to be correct. Might wanna check it out on WAP as well as it seems most cellphone layouts are not really working with your web page.
what an adorable block – love your colours too !! daisyandjack@hotmail.com
