Winners of 100 Blocks Vol. 10 & Christmas Patterns

I’m always both amazed & yet humbled reading all the wonderful comments

that you, my readers, leave.

I’m so thankful to be doing what I do each day;

taking care of my family,

& using my creativity to run my business.

I take so much for granted until once again I’m reminded that what I have is a gift.

This past weekend at Mass our bible readings were about using and not squandering our gifts.

Then Wednesday (I teach 3rd grade religion class) our theme was the same.

Yes, I know what I have are gifts,

but because what I do comes so naturally

sometimes I need reminding.

So, for this I thank you (& our priest)!

But no, I’m still not going to join the choir so quit asking! LOL!

I’m certain Fr. Tom does not read this blog…

It’s not surprising to find that most of you, when asked to comment,

mentioned my best-selling patterns,

“A Pretty Package” (lap quilt)

Suzn+Quilts+A+Pretty+Pkg+Winterlude+complete

& its new counterpart “A Pretty Table” (table runner & place mats).

Suzn+Quilts+A+Pretty+Table+#214+Cover

After that “Mittens on the Line” was most popular

Mittens on the Line #182 for blog watermarkand then the rest of the comments were pretty evenly dispersed over the rest of my Christmas patterns.

I love to sew for Christmas, can you tell?

 So, winners…

the winner who will be getting a free copy of

100 Blocks Volume 10

100+Blocks+VOL10

I like your stocking pattern the best.

& the three winners who will each receive their

favorite Christmas pattern from my website are:

2. Joanne Harris Says:

3. Christie Spanutius Says:

My favorite pattern is “A Pretty Package” all of your patterns are very beautiful. I would love any one of them. The table runner idea is great!

4. Bridget Says:

I like Peppermint Pizzazz

Please email your mailing address to me at

SuznQuilts@aol.com

& I’ll send out your prizes.

Thanks again to all of you for participating.

A Giveaway!, New Pattern Sample, Quick Little Projects, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

It’s Tuesday…

…and my day to blog about the new 100 Blocks Volume 4.

My block #313:

How strange is that, my favorite number is #13!!!

Olde St. Nick

Notice the signature on the block?  It’s one of the requirements when sending in the block.

Run right over to Quiltmaker’s blog and register to win original blocks!

Not only that, they’re offering lots of free stuff all week on the blog hop.

Now that you’ve met my Olde St. Nick, take a look at him (and his twin) on a fast & fun table runner that is also included in this issue on page 90.

To make a table runner of  your own:

First win or purchase a new copy of 100 Blocks Vol. 4

Make 2 Olde St. Nick blocks pg. 24 (see my last post for quick cutting)

Some of my favorite tools for this job include:

Wonder Under fusible web by Pellon,

an applique sheet to fuse all the pieces together on and

my machine’s button hole stitch with Sulky’s 12 wt. thread!  It makes my applique “pop”!

Cut 60, 2-1/2″ red squares

Cut 1, 10″ red square

Sew the red 2-1/2″ squares into 6 rows of 10 squares each.  Sew the rows together to make a 12-1/2″ x 20-1/2″ rectangle.  Sew an Olde St. Nick block onto each 12-1/2″ end.

Cut 10″ red square in half diagonally. Sew a triangle onto bottom of each Olde St. Nick block as shown in photo above.  Trim excess from triangles.

Quilt as desired, bind and enjoy!

I hope you enjoy the issue as much as I enjoy being part of it.

Now go UP, UP, UP to the TOP of my blog and leave a comment telling me your favorite season to sew for.  By doing this you’ll be entered to win the drawing for a FREE issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks vol. 4.

The blog hop lasts all week, and I will personally draw for my winner on Friday after midnight.

Good luck and have fun!

Until next time,

Susan

My Life, New quilt pattern, Quilt Market, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Exciting news, I’m a cover girl!!!

I’m excited to announce that my block made it into the newest issue of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks from today’s top designers.  I’ve known for over a month, but while at International Quilt Market last week I learned that my block made the cover!!!

I know it’s a small photo, but if you look closely you’ll see a green block with Santa’s head and hat, see it?

I also made a table runner with the block, so stay tuned…

The blog hop starts Monday November 7th, and the issue will be available November 15th!

I can’t wait…

Until next time,

Susan

A Giveaway!, New ideas, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Welcome to Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks vol 3 Blog Hop!

The folks at Quiltmaker have done it again with another great issue filled with beautiful blocks that will inspire!  I’m honored to be part of this issue that will be on magazine stands May 10th.

My block, #208 is found on page 29.

I submitted this block for the spring issue because it’s the perfect time for all of you to get started on a patriotic quilt that can be finished in time to hang for your 4th of July celebrations.

I also made the block into a quilt that is featured in this issue’s gallery found on page 82.

So with just one 12″ block you can make this adorable quilt!

Along with the block, you will need:

  • 2, 20″ squares of another print, cut in half diagonally for setting triangles
  • 4, 3-1/2″ Strips of Blue Print for Border
  • 2 Yds. Rickrack
  • 12 more stars from template found on page 29
  • Plus Blue Binding Strips

Please subscribe to my blog to follow me as I “quilt my way through life.”  Each Tuesday I share with my readers a hot tip.  You can submit your own hot tips to me here and if I use your tip, you will receive a free Suzn Quilts’ pattern!

I’ve been working to finish up new designs that I will be introducing at International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, Utah next week.  If you’re there come by and say “hello.”

Join me here too as I show my new designs in the next few days.  All of my designs are available at quilt shops as well as on my website

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’ve also checked out the other designers on  the blog hop.

For a chance to win a free copy of 100 Blocks volume 3, just go back to the top of this post and write me a comment!

Subscribe to my blog and be entered to win a second drawing for a free pattern of your choice!  If you’re already a subscriber, let me know in your comment and you’ll be entered too.

Family Time, New quilt pattern, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

100 Blocks Blog Tour Winner

Happy Veteran’s Day to all our veterans!

It’s been a busy few days at my house, and on my blog.  My wonderful Mother-in-law helped me fold and bag patterns this week so I could get them shipped out, partly because I really needed the help and partly because she needed to be busy on the first anniversary of my father-in-law’s passing away. I have to say, everyone has said it would take her a year, not to be over her grief, but to start to be OK with it.  I’m happy to say, in the last two months, I’ve seen a calm in her that’s been missing since the untimely passing of her husband.  She’s even booked a bus trip to Branson with a friend, a huge step. Here’s to moving forward!

Speaking of moving forward, not only am I amazed by the number of people following the 100 Blocks tour, but also by all the comments that have been posted on all of the blogs participating!  So much excitement, and real soon you’ll all be able to get your hands on a copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks vol. 2, one way or another.

I put all my comments into a number generator and the lucky winner from my blog is #113.  Now that is Kismet.  My favorite number is #13!  So, Michelle Clemons, if you’ll send me your address, Quiltmaker will send you a free copy of 100 Blocks vol. 2.

For the rest of you, there are still two more days of the great give-aways going on. Go to Quiltmaker’s blog for the lists of remaining blogs to visit.  Have fun and good luck!

Until next time,

Susan
